Yes. Fingerprinting services are provided by appointment to City of Parker residents only. There is no charge for this service.
To schedule an appointment, email Michelle Hsieh at mhsieh@parkertexas.us with the following information:
- Name of person fingerprinting
- Address of person
- Three (3) available dates and times
- Contact phone number
- Any special requests by the receiving company
Items to bring to appointment:
- Form of government issued ID
- Fingerprinting card
- Printed written instructions by the receiving agency, if available
- Form of payment for postage, if needed

Proof of current fire and/or EMS certifications, proof of experience as a paid or volunteer firefighter or EMS professional, letters of reference from fire professionals and proof of specialized skill training or experience will all help. Unfortunately, if you do not have all of the required certifications, we are unable to bring you on as a part-time member. We recommend that once you obtain the proper certifications, you complete and submit an application. Please note that if you submit an application without the required certifications, it will not be processed, and you will need to reapply once you are fully qualified.

The applicant will be required to complete a physical agility test within a designated time frame. If the applicant successfully passes the agility test, a formal interview will be scheduled with members of the Parker Fire Department. Following a successful interview, the applicant will be required to complete a background check and drug screening. Once all steps have been completed, the applicant’s final status will be reviewed by the Chiefs. If it is determined that the applicant has successfully passed all phases of the process, they will be offered a probationary position.

We are continuously working to improve and refine our recruitment process, which makes it difficult to provide an exact timeline. Currently, our focus is on bringing in new recruits as vacancies arise within the department. In most cases, a successful candidate can expect to be accepted within six months of applying; however, depending on staffing needs, the process may be completed much sooner.

Typically, we respond to structure fires, grass fires, motor vehicle collisions, injured persons, medical calls, alarms (fire, smoke, carbon monoxide, etc), utility shutoffs, odor investigations, public service, etc. People typically call 911 because they don't know who else to call for help. This means that a citizen may call us for virtually anything. We must be prepared to adapt our training and skills for any situation.

Yes, Parker Fire Department is a TDSHS-certified First Responder agency, providing both Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) services. While we rely on Wylie Fire Rescue for our ambulance services, our personnel provide appropriate on-scene prehospital care.

As of October 2025, Parker Fire Department is staffed by more than 45 part-time members and 3 full-time firefighters. Many of our part-time personnel also serve with other fire departments across the metroplex, bringing valuable experience and expertise to our community.

The Parker Fire Department provides coverage to approximately 6,300 residents within the city limits and areas of Collin County within the city’s extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ). We maintain mutual aid agreements with neighboring cities and respond to their requests for assistance when needed. Additionally, we have automatic aid agreements with the cities of Wylie, Murphy, Lucas, and Fairview, ensuring that all five departments respond collaboratively to emergency calls, including structure fires, within any of these communities.
